I will just call her Angel

Today I really needed, more than anything else, a reminder that there are still kind and thoughtful people in this world… and wouldn’t you know? THIS happened:

Took my mom out to do a little shopping today. As we were about to leave, and after helping her into the truck, my mom said “I think that girl wants to talk to you”. Looking through to the other side of the car, I see her, I sigh, and begin to think to myself, “great… probably needs something. Hit me up for some money.” (I could almost see my brain, my eyeballs were rolling so far up into my head.)

She was obviously upset, almost in tears, when she began to apologize profusely. Seems the wind caught her car door as she opened it, causing it to slam into mine. Wiping some of the mark it left on the door off with my hand, I said “But there’s no dent, barely a scratch, and see, it comes right off ” “Are you sure?” she said, “I feel so bad! I will be glad to pay for it. I can give you my number.”

She was so sincere, so genuinely sorry, and still so upset it had happened. All the while I kept telling her, “really, it’s ok” and finally asking, “you waited for me?” (sniffles and nods) “Most people wouldn’t have you know? Come here”. I just had to hug her, so I did. 🙂

I think I would have said and done the same if she had smashed it. I told her that too, as I released her and said, “consider it paid in full by your thoughtfulness. You just made my day!” and she did, and maybe even my week too. I should have asked her name… I think I will just call her Angel. – Darlene ðŸ˜‰
