Jacob’s school poem

When my sons were in junior high they had to write slam poems. One of my sons wrote about his struggle with having muscular dystrophy and not being able to play sports.

Our local Muscular Dystrophy Association asked him to read it at the annual walk they have. He was too shy so I said I would read it. It was much more difficult than I thought it would be and was half way through it when I began crying and couldn’t finish. It just so happened that the teacher who assigned the poem came to the walk to support my boys. Without being asked she came up to the stage and finished reading Jacob’s poem! – Michelle
