No higher compliment
I received many sweet and wonderful notes from my students. I still do on FB, even though I’m retired.
I know some people may take this the wrong way, but for a time I taught in an inner-city school where I faced a definite struggle convincing students I truly cared for them and wanted them to succeed. I taught Science, a very difficult subject to teach in inner-city neighborhoods because it isn’t considered important. My students were 3% proficient when I joined that faculty; 86% proficient when I retired.
One day when I had been at the school about 2-1/2 years, one sweet boy told me, “Ms. Fritsche, you’re as black as we are.” No higher compliment could be paid. I had won their trust and their love. I love them, too! – PattiÂ
