I used to take the old ladies next door grocery shopping sometimes, and sometimes I helped carry their food up the front steps, but sometimes I just wasn’t “up to it” with all my own bags.
Well, one night when I was very pregnant and I went shopping alone, I came back with the groceries and I was so exhausted I just sat in the car and cried. I didn’t want to wake my husband (who had put the other 4 kids to bed). It was all just too much right then. I looked up, and here came the two old lady neighbors down their front steps with their shawls wrapped around them – opened the doors and started carrying my bags up my steps. I could not believe it – what a loving thing to do! – Sharon
