Achieving his personal best
Last week my brother was doing one of his long cycle rides hoping for a personal best. He stopped at a road junction and noticed the old lady he was beside was driving a car with a flat tyre. He knocked on her window and changed her tyre for her in the rain. I would say that’s a different kind of personal best.
We were brought up to spread kindness. My folks have a holiday home in Spain and my Mum was horrified to learn that anyone new to the park where they lived was charged hundreds of Euros by a greedy neighbour to help with their paperwork and documents. So Mum learned Spanish despite her lack of education and now helps all of the newcomers for no charge. In turn, grateful people have left her baskets of fruit or taken her to dinner or surprised her with flowers.
Kindness often begets kindness; it’s by spending oneself that one becomes rich. – Morgan 🙂
