Giving makes me feel good

Kindness Is Giving Hope To Those Who Think They Are All Alone In This World

Giving is the one thing that makes me feel good.

When I was a kid, we had a neighbor who didn’t have a car and rode his bike 12 miles every day collecting pop cans. Every winter Grandpa would throw together a box of Venison and leave it at the end of his driveway.

I asked grandpa once why he was giving this stuff away to a bum. Grandpa explained that they grew up together and Pete had always been there to help him and had fallen on rough times. Pete wouldn’t openly accept anything so Grandpa would just leave it at the end of his driveway.

I will never forget that gesture. – Lindsey

  1. This is a beautiful and scientifically-backed look at the “helper’s high” and how our brains are literally wired for compassion. I love the emphasis on the idea that kindness isn’t just a moral choice, but a physical and emotional necessity that boosts our own well-being as much as it helps the recipient. It is a powerful reminder that in a world that often prioritizes self-interest, the most effective way to find personal happiness is to look outward and contribute to the happiness of others. Thank you for sharing such an uplifting perspective on the biological and spiritual rewards of living a generous life!

It’s a lovely example of the intuitive nature of generous people and the wonderful lessons we can all give our children. Thanks for the word you do, Susan. 🙂

  2. To me there’s a big difference between being rich and being wealthy. Being wealthy is about so much more than just money. Money is important too, but being wealthy includes kindness, generosity, community…

You are totally on the “money”! I couldn’t agree more. You can’t connect with money, it’s just one of those necessary evils in life we all have to live with.
