How will it change attitudes?

As a 6th grade teacher, I feel the necessity to teach my students about kindness, compassion and empathy.

Each week, I introduce a new video clip, picture book, article, etc., that focuses on this topic of kindness. We read/watch the text or video and then we reflect and write in our notebooks what it is trying to teach us – what we can learn from it. Then we discuss it. I like to ask my students what stood out and surprised them in the text/video. This one question always brings out a thought-provoking response. I don’t want them to summarize the item but actually think about it and how it will change their attitudes. – Justin 😛
