I Experienced a Lot of Gifts

I was walking home from yoga downtown. It usually takes me half an hour. I said hi to a homeless man and he talked to me for about ten minutes. I got a lot of hugs, hand kisses and compliments, and off I went feeling pretty great. My soul mate cat died about a month ago and I’m still grieving, but after that I felt the first real smile I’d had in over a month. I took time at home with her during her final month as well.

So about ten minutes later, I said hi to another man I passed and he then asked for directions. I asked him where he was going and he pulled out a map and said to the shelter nearby. I have a brain injury and sometimes find it hard to express myself, so I offered to walk him there. He took me up on it. He told me he recently came to town and was trying to get back on track. He’d left the shelter to get a coffee and got lost. It was only a few blocks and a few minutes out of my way. When we set off I thought it was further away, but I knew how to get there. He was so grateful and told me how wonderful I am. That made me smile too. So it ended up being a great day because I’ve been having trouble getting myself going and really didn’t feel like going out. I’m so glad I did. I experienced a lot of gifts. – Rayne 😀
