It’s so much more fun to give!

We’ve had a tough couple weeks. We’ve had a burglar in the neighborhood and bills over our head. My daughters iPod touch (she got for Christmas) was just stolen after only 2 weeks of having it, my husband’s company is on it’s way belly up, our heaters are broken in our home so it’s been 42°F….which means it’s miserable.

During this little bump in the road we have received several acts of kindness. An old high school friend of mine (whose life is very tough and who has very little) contacted me to tell me her son (who has never meet my daughter) wanted to offer her his iPod touch. He has a little bit older version than the one she lost but had several features he had added to it. This is a boy who has a lot on his plate (including cancerous tumors that try to keep him from the sports he loves).

We also had some friends show up with several heaters….which have us all the way up to 62°F.

The burglary actually gave me the chance to meet my neighbor (who is very delightful) and start a new friendship. She works for a Chip company and sent my kids boxes of Doritos, Ruffles, Cheetos, and variety packs.

She felt so good seeing my kids faces when they saw all the boxes full of chips and told them they were all theirs! My kids couldn’t believe it…they were so excited since I never buy that stuff!!

We don’t have much, but I was happy we were able to send some of our fresh eggs over from our chickens, which made her smile.

Simple things…like people holding a door, or smiling, have kept me smiling.

I even received a card from a friend with a hand warmer n packet of cocoa since she knew we were so cold.

It’s much more fun to give for me….but being on the receiving end has been a wonderful blessing!! – Deanna
