The man with the dog
When I worked in the emergency room as a nurse, a very sick man came in by ambulance, he’d had a stroke.
He was awake and very agitated, but could hardly speak and had paralysis on one side. By listening very closely, I learned that his dog was home alone and he was so upset. He was able to give me a phone number to call. After I called and spoke to his friend, I was able to reassure him that his dog would be taken care of.
About a month went by and as I was walking into work, a man stopped me. He introduced himself and asked if I was the nurse who took care of him. I then recognized him and said, you are the man with the dog! He said yes! And I came back here to thank you for making sure that my dog was taken care of!
It meant so much to me that he did that! To know that he was doing well and so was his dog, made me feel so good, and reaffirmed to me, this is why I am a nurse. – Lynnette 😛
