She never really wanted the lessons.
I was a young teacher back in 1970 in a local high school. I was teaching French and some of the teachers were going to Europe, which included three days in Paris. I really wanted to go, but was only making 5,000 a year and I really couldn’t afford the trip. I was living in a mobile home and trying to make ends meet.
An older teacher offered to give me the money and all I had to do was give her French lessons when we returned. I accepted her generous offer and had a great time.
When I returned from my trip, she said she really didn’t want the lessons, she just wanted to make sure that I was able to go on the trip. She has long since died, but her kindness has never been forgotten. – Thomas 🙂
