Your smile already had!

Compassion Of Kids.
We woke up this morning with the sound of rain bashing on our windows, none the less my son Shrihan was ready for a day of school. He seemed extra chirpy today so I knew it would be a good day!

We catch the bus to school and get dropped off at a shopping centre, so as we were a bit early, I thought we’d go in and grab a hot chockie and a gingerbread man.

As we were walking in, my son saw an old lady sitting under the bus shelter with a blanket and no shoes. He asked “mum it’s really cold. Why is that lady not wearing shoes?” I explained to him that some people are not as fortunate as us and maybe she didn’t have any money to buy shoes. He said “oh”, looked back and smiled at the lady who smiled and waved back.

We continued to walk into the shops and I was thinking what can we do for this lady. As if he read my mind, my son said “mum I didn’t know the ladies shoe size, but maybe she would like a hot chockie and a cookie too, it might warm her up!”

I’ve always wanted my son to be kind and think of others, but didn’t realise a 5 year old could be so wise, sweet and caring. So I told him that was a great idea and that’s just what we did.

The look on my sons face when he handed her the coffee and cookie was beautiful, and the ladies face was priceless. As he passed her the things he said “I thought this might warm you up” and she said “your smile already had”.

I’m so proud of my son and what a sweet caring and genuine boy he is becoming! – Nikki
