They remember how I made them feel

Ive Learned That People Will Forget What You Said People Will Forget What You Did But People Will Never Forget How You Made Them Feel

One thing I have found that makes me feel good is lifting up those around me.

During my long wait in the ER, I was in close contact with all kinds of people both in the lobby and while I was waiting on a gurney in the hall. There was nothing else to do, so I just started talking to people.

An LA County Deputy Sheriff walked by me and I held my hand out. I said “Sir, can I shake your hand, I just want to thank you for what you do.” He shook my hand and I got a big smile out of him. Perhaps nobody had ever thanked him and I had made his day right there. It made me feel really good, so As I waited, there were others, deputies, firemen and first responders I thanked them I made them all happy with just a simple gesture. Imagine being able to lighten up a persons day with just a few words. I don’t know about you, but I would rather be around happy people. If I can make those around me happy, then I am in a happy place.

I continued after I was admitted to the Hospital. There were these Angels called nurses. And those who were assigned to me were there for me. Their purpose was my comfort. I thanked every one of them often and told them what a great job they were doing. One of them was so outstanding that I recommended her for a commendation. The entire staff on duty at the time found out about it and the very thought that somebody would care enough to do that made them happy.

The doctors were also outstanding. Two of them I praised and thanked and again, I believe nobody had ever done that for them. There was that smile again and suddenly the doctors are doing me favors.

Being kind to others and lifting them up is what lifts me up, making me feel really good, I made a few friends at the ER and Hospital, and they are the kind of friends who will remember me not for what I said, but for how I made them feel.

It’s not hard to do, but it must be done in sincerity, out of love. – Jimmy
