Kindness Matters!
This past weekend I went kayaking with the love of my life and the Boise Paddlers Group. We agreed to pick up a fellow paddler to share the 2 hour drive to the put in site.
On our way home our trailer tire blew out the bearings. We were dead on the highway in 100° temperature after a long day on the river. Insurance company connected us with a tow company that was going to charge us $95.00 per hour from the time it left it’s location until it’s return…$$$$$. I noticed we were right outside of Mountain Home and a gentleman I had spoken with one time over the past month about having an RV refrigerator for sale, lived there and had a home shop. He mentioned he did mechanics in for friends and family. I still had his number so called him, reminded him of whom I was and told him of our dilemma. He recommended a tow truck driver, which we called. The driver charged a total $75.00 to pick up and deliver the trailer. The gentleman I called also said we could have the trailer dropped at his shop and he would see if he could fix it. The next day before noon (Sunday) he called to tell us the trailer was fixed. I asked how much and he said whatever we thought was appropriate. His out of pocket expense was $35.72.
I was ecstatic over the kindness of Larry Taylor from Mountain Home, Idaho and Tom Hall of Hammett, Idaho. They both stepped up to help strangers in need and didn’t look at taking financial advantage of us. My heart is so filled with gratitude and respect for these two people!
