Angels unaware

.About five years ago I had gone through a period of complete brokenness in my life. I was sick; therefore I had to stop working. As a result of that, I began to lose all that I’d work for. I was at a point in my life where I was trusting in what God told me for deliverance. I had asked in the Lord for a financial blessing and I was trusting that he would come through for me.

My daughter and I had gone to a restaurant to have lunch. We were very hungry that day, so we ordered more than we could eat. I took the knife and fork and separated the rack of ribs that I had ordered and cut the baked potato in half. After just a few bites, we were ready to go, so we asked the waitress to package the food to take with us.

We walked across the street and met two gentlemen that told us that they were hungry and thirsty. They asked me for my food and I told him that I would buy both of them the same thing that I had ordered from the restaurant. They told us no, no, we want your food. Then he began to tell me his story about how he was down trodden from losing a $17 an hour job. He told us that he and his friend were sleeping on the benches at night. I didn’t ask him why he wanted my half eaten food and to this day it is a mystery. No matter how many times I offered to purchase him and his friend food, he refused to allow me to do so. My daughter and I handed them our food and I asked them if they wanted a soft drink from the store in front of us, they told me that a bottle of water would suffice them.

When I walked away I thought about the scripture in the Bible where it says; “be careful how we entertain strangers because some have entertained angels unaware”.  A few days later that prayer that I had been praying and trusting God for was answered in ways that did not imagine. I believe that God has us here to take care of each other. Many of our prayers will be answered through other people. I don’t ever want to get so busy or caught up in my own everyday problems that I forget about those that are in need. My daughter told me as well as my son, “mom you will never be rich because you give everything away to help others”. I never view it as a lost, but it pleases my heart to help other people that are dealing with adversity in their lives. – Elaine 😀
