Making her smile was very special
I bought a Mother’s Day plant and plant holder hook for my neighbor who has a special needs son. Although he is 35, his mind is that of a very young child and he has no concept really of doing something for his mom, even saying I love you, so he would never think to say Happy Mother’s Day either.
Her lawn mower broke last week and won’t be repaired until the end of this week, but as we have chosen to have a natural yard without any grass, we don’t own a lawn mower, so I asked a neighbor if I could borrow his. He looked at me like I was crazy, as he looked at my yard with no grass. I explained I wanted to cut our neighbors yard and told him about her mower. He said he would it and got on his ride on mower. The really great thing is she had no idea he was out there. She thought it was her neighbor behind her house cutting their own lawn! Even when he was in her backyard, she did not figure it out… hilarious!
I called her while driving to visit my mother-in-law to see if she had been outside yet. I had put the plant and holder hook in the middle of her yard so she could not miss the cut grass. All I heard was a big gasp and then her crying. She was feeling terrible that her grass was so high and knew it would be another week before she could cut it.
It was the best feeling ever, so from now on I will choose a special mother to do a good deed for on Mother’s Day. Mine has been gone now for almost 6 years and I miss her and am always sad on this day, but now I have a new mission. – Kim ♥
