Bennett Brothers Balm – fundraising for our friend
Last year in May of 2016, our friend and former classmate was brushing his teeth when he felt a lump on his neck. He was 11 at the time and just about to finish the 5th grade when he was diagnosed with Stage 1 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We couldn’t believe that someone so young, active and healthy could have cancer.
Instead of doing all of the fun stuff that a kid should be doing over summer vacation, our friend spent that summer in and out of the hospital, taking medications and receiving treatments. We were shocked and sad and we felt like we needed to do something to help, so we decided to start a business to raise money to donate to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Ma where our friend was being treated.
We learned that cancer patients’ lips and skin can get dry and chapped from chemo treatments and that there were other side effects like nausea and headaches as well. This is how we came up with the idea for our original lip balm as well as our Tummy Troubles Belly Balm, and why we chose to create Bennett Brothers Balm, a line of all-natural, chemical-free, vegan lip and body balm products that we hand make ourselves in our home.
We donate 100% of our profits to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to fund lifesaving pediatric cancer research. To date, we have raised over $4,200 for pediatric blood cancer research.
We started this business for our friend, but we continue for kids like him and for all the angels, survivors, and those still fighting. We want them to know that they are not fighting alone. –Â Harry and Heath
