What goes around, comes around.
All my life, I have been very fortunate to have kind and generous family and friends that always seemed to help out just when I needed it the most. Most of them have passed on already so there is no way to ever pay them back (as if they would have expected it anyway!). Because of this, I try to do simple acts of kindness, all the while thinking of my family and friends. I am a firm believer in “what goes around, comes around.”
Several years ago, I paid an overdue power bill for a neighbor I hardly knew. The power company fellow was at her home to turn the power off. She wasn’t home and I knew money was tight for her, so I paid her bill, never telling her.
Over the next few years, she and I became close friends. A relative of hers passed on and left her a small inheritance. She very generously and unexpectedly gave me a small check to help with my family’s expenses!! How kind of her!
At tax time each year, several friends and family ask me to help with their taxes. They always offer to pay me for my time but I refuse to accept any money. Instead, I only ask that they do something kind for someone else.
Paying it forward is a wonderful notion to live by! Never miss an opportunity to do something kind for someone. – Muay 🙂
