Kids Setting an Example

It was a little later in the year, perhaps June, but in my neighborhood, I’m known as the flower lady. The little kids come and ask for flowers; they know that if they ask and don’t take, I almost always come out and help them cut a few.

So, this particular afternoon in June, I opened my door to a familiar teenage young lady and a new young man. She asked if I remembered her and when I said I did, they explained that they were doing RAKs for people in need of cheer. I said I was definitely in!  So, we cut several small bouquets, they added nice little notes they’d cut and written kind words on and after I thought they’d gone, I received a knock on my door once again.

I received a small bouquet of my own flowers with a note that says, “Keep Smiling!” You see, I’ve been sick a long time, (now I’m doing better ?), and I also use crutches to get around, and I have for the entire time that we’ve lived (and gardened) in our little home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, USA.  I think some of the kindest words and actions come from youngsters and children… setting an example for the adults around them! – Suzy ?
