It’s just common courtesy!

Whenever maintenance comes into my apartment to fix something I always make sure the area that they are going to be working in is comfortable. For instance I will put a lamp in the area to give them plenty of light.

One day he, Bob, had to fix a drawer in the kitchen. Underneath the draw is a cubby hole where I keep all my pots and pans. I removed them to make it more comfortable for him in case he wanted to lay down on his back. He was so surprised I did this. I don’t think much of trying to make the staff comfortable because I thought it was common courteous.Recently he had to come back to my apartment to do what they call a yearly apartment check. This is what management does to make sure no one is destroying the apartments.

Anyway, before he left he told me that he enjoyed coming to my apartment because I go out of my way to make him comfortable with his work. He says no one does this. It wasn’t so much what he said as the way he said it that really warmed my heart to think I made such a difference to somebody. Something small like relocate a lamp or remove pots and pans. Things that I thought was a small gesture for his comfort, was really huge for him. – Cindy 🙂
